ByWater Solutions Announces Support of Aspen Discovery for SWAN Library Services

ByWater Solutions, America’s forefront provider of open-source library technology support, announced today that they are providing support and software development services for the Aspen Discovery system for SWAN Library Services.

SWAN and ByWater Solutions, through a development partnership, expanded Aspen Discovery’s features. We were very excited to work with SWAN on developing integration with EBSCO Discovery Services and improving Aspen’s scalability and stability for such a large library network. Their first round of 42 libraries went live in October 2021 and 58 more will roll out in January 2022 until 100 libraries will all be live on Aspen Discovery!

SWAN has a complex library e-resource arrangement, and the integration of those 2 million electronic resources within the Aspen Discovery record grouping feature helps SWAN’s 1.5 million combined library collection blend together in a search display that is seamless and beautiful. We are seeing usage increases already for requested items due to Aspen Discovery’s algorithm for suggesting collection titles to library users based on their activity. Library staff are excited to have Aspen’s tools for featured collection curation through Browse Categories and Spotlights."

SWAN Library Services is dedicated to bringing 100 libraries in the Chicagoland areas for the purposes of resource sharing and collaboration. They connect a 1.9 million service population with their community library. To this end, SWAN built a shared online public catalog with nearly 8 million items available to library users.
